acute oak decline

(Phytophthora quercina)

A syndrome leading to the decline of native oaks which can lead to death within 4-5 years. AOD is thought to have arisen in the 1920s but appears to have become more prevalent in the last few decades. Most reports are from the midlands and south-east of England.
