(CCS)

A speculative technology for reducing carbon emissions from big industrial plants such as power stations, giving rise to the concept of clean coal. The UK government’s target for curbing greenhouse gas emissions assumes that CCS will operate successfully in practice but its feasibility appears to be in question.
