A tract of land with relatively poor acid soil characterized by heather (Calluna vulgaris), plant species also known as heaths (Erica spp.), several Vaccinium spp. bearing berries, gorse (Ulex europaeus), bracken (Pteridium aquilinum), some grasses and scattered trees.
