local green space
An area designated under the Localism Act 2011 for its significance to local people, whether for recreation, its aesthetic value, wildlife, historical associations etc. (cf. local site). Areas are identified in the local plan or neighbourhood plan. According to the Natural environment white paper, local green spaces may not undermine investment in new housing, jobs or essential services.
