Millennium seed bank
The biggest ex situ plant conservation project in the world, which collects and stores seed from those plant species most at risk of extinction. The project is led by Kew gardens with collaborators in over 50 countries, and the seed is stored at Wakehurst Place in West Sussex. The aim of the project is to conserve the seed of 25% of the world’s plant species (the most endangered) by 2020.
