Monocotyledoneae

(monocots)

One of the two main groups of flowering plants (angiosperms), the other being the Dicotyledoneae (dicots). They include the grasses (including cereals, sugar cane and bamboos) and orchids, both of which are very large families, as well as many well-known flowering plants such as daffodils and bluebells.
