‘Serving to adorn, decorative, pleasantly striking’. The term is often applied to taxa bred and propagated specifically for ornament (cf. wild type), including exotics and variants of tree species with variegated leaves, unusual growth habit or other deformity, flamboyant blossom or distinctively coloured foliage or fruit.
