ozone hole

The ozone hole is a seasonal depletion of the ozone layer largely over the Antarctic and adjacent latitudes owing to its destruction by air pollution, notably CFCs (chloroflourocarbons) formerly used as refrigerants and propellants in cans of aerosol.
