picket fence

A low and lightweight fence common in domestic contexts consisting of posts, rails and vertical boards (pickets), usually rounded or pointed at the top, which are fixed to the rails at a regular spacing. The spaces are wide relative to an open-board fence, typically about as wide as the pickets themselves.
