retention value (BS 5837:2012)
In BS 5837 (2012) retention value is classified in four categories: (i) A: High value, life expectancy over 40 years. (ii) B: Moderate value, life expectancy at least 20 years. (iii) C: Low value, life expectancy at least 10 years. (iv) U: Condition poor, life expectancy less than 10 years, or young trees with a stem diameter less than 15cm. Within a category a tree is classified as having mainly arboricultural, landscape or cultural value.
