single payment scheme

(SPS)

The principal agricultural subsidy of the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU, administered by the Rural Payments Agency for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. The SPS was introduced in 2005 and extended in 2009 to include orchards and nursery land. Allotments may also qualify.
