tree preservation order (provisional order)

In England, all new TPOs have immediate provisional effect under the Town and Country Planning (Tree Preservation) (England) Regulations 2012. In the rest of the UK a provisional order is made under section 201 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, and comes into effect as soon as it is issued by the local authority (or other planning authority). A provisional order is in force for up to six months, by which time the order should be confirmed (or not) by the local authority.
