habitat

Narrowly, the physical environment of a population of one species. The term is often used to mean a vegetation type and its associated community of lower plants, animals etc. (as in priority habitat), or even more broadly, any space for wildlife (as in ‘wildlife habitat’). The term ‘biotope’ is sometimes used for these broader meanings.
