Hedgerows Regulations 1997

Under this legislation, an amendment to the Environment Act 1995, field hedgerows of native species fulfilling criteria reflecting wildlife, landscape or historical value (‘important’ hedgerows) cannot be removed without the prior permission of the local authority.
