household projections

The Office for National Statistics estimates (from 2011 data) that the number of households in England is to grow by 2.2M over the decade 2011–2021, two-thirds of which will be households without any dependent children (including those with elderly occupants). In 2015 the Department for Communities and Local Government projected a similar annual increase for longer, from 2012 to 2037, to give 5.2M new households in England.
